The Amana AER6303MMS is a 30 inch freestanding electric range with a glass-ceramic smoothtop and stainless finish, and its closest sibling, the ACR4303MMS, is the same size with coil surface elements instead. Both use Easy Touch Electronic Controls and have a Self-Clean Option, Bake Assist Temps, Warm Hold and an Extra-Large Oven Window. If you are choosing between them, the real decision is whether you want a flat glass surface that wipes clean or exposed coils that are cheaper to replace and tolerate any cookware. This guide helps you decide and explains the finishes and the codes to expect.
What is the difference between the AER6303 and ACR4303 families?
The cooktop is the difference. The AER6303 line has a smooth glass-ceramic surface with radiant elements underneath, which gives a flat, easy-to-clean top. The ACR4303 line has traditional coil elements that sit above the surface on removable drip pans and a storage drawer below the oven. In both cases the oven is electric and the controls are electronic, so inside the oven the two ranges feel alike. Within each family, the last letters of the model number give the finish: MMS is stainless in a monochromatic style, MFS is stainless, MFB is black and MFW is white.
The smoothtop makes spills easy to wipe, but needs the right cleaner and flat-bottomed cookware. The coil top accepts almost any pot and replacement is simple, but cleaning around the coils and under the drip pans takes more work. Neither is better in every kitchen; it depends on how you cook and clean.
Which cooktop suits you?
Choose the smoothtop AER6303MMS if you value a flat surface, wipe-down cleaning and a modern look. Use cookware with flat, smooth bottoms and lift pots rather than slide them, since sliding scratches glass and heavy dropped objects can crack it. Choose the coil-top ACR4303MMS if you cook with older or warped cookware, if you want the surface repair to be straightforward, or if you want to avoid the care glass requires. Coil elements can be unplugged and replaced individually, while a radiant element sits under the glass and is a technician job. Our Amana smoothtop not heating guide and surface element problems guide show what each style’s faults look like.

What does the oven offer?
Both families have a Self-Clean Option, which heats the oven to a high temperature to burn off residue. Bake Assist Temps lets the control fine-tune its heat for certain cooking temperatures, and Warm Hold keeps food warm until you serve it. The Extra-Large Oven Window makes it easy to check progress without opening the door and letting out heat. Easy Touch Electronic Controls replace knobs with touch buttons for oven functions and timers. If you plan to use the self-clean feature, read our Amana oven self-clean maintenance guide, which explains how to prepare and what to avoid.
How do you care for each cooktop?
A smoothtop wants a daily wipe with a damp cloth and a cleaner made for glass-ceramic surfaces, with stuck-on spills loosened by a single-edge razor scraper held at a shallow angle. Sugar spills are the exception: remove them while hot, with care, because they can pit the glass as they cool. Never use steel wool, abrasive powders or ammonia-based cleaners. A coil top needs its drip pans lifted out and washed, the coils wiped once cool and unplugged only when the range is cold and off. Do not clean the coil elements with water while connected. Do not line the drip pans with foil, which can trap heat and damage the receptacle.
On either style, keep the controls dry and wipe them gently. Easy Touch controls respond to touch, so a damp or greasy panel can behave oddly until it is cleaned.
Which fault codes should you know?
On the electric oven, the controller reads codes in an F-and-E format, and our technicians match each to a part. F1 points to the control board, F2 to the keypad, F3 to the oven temperature sensor, F5 or F9-1 and F9-2 to the door lock, F6 E1 to a relay, and F9 E0 to the supply wiring, which is often a miswire rather than a failed board. You can read how the first two behave in our guides on Amana range F1 E0 and Amana range F2 E1. A new range showing F9 E0 right after installation should be checked for a wiring mistake before anyone replaces a board.
What should you check before buying or keeping one?
Look at the space: 30 inches wide, with an outlet and clearances set by the installation sheet. Look at the anti-tip bracket, which keeps the range from tipping if a heavy door is loaded. Confirm the supply. Our Amana range installation guide covers the practical setup. If you are comparing with a gas model, read our AGR6603SFW gas range buying guide and the general Amana range buying guide. For long-term care, see our range maintenance guide.
We are an independent repair company, not the manufacturer. If your range shows a code or an element will not heat, our Amana range repair service can diagnose it, and you can schedule a visit online.
Whichever you choose, measure the doorway and kitchen opening before delivery, and confirm the outlet and anti-tip bracket are ready, because those two items cause most delivery-day delays.
